Kickstarter

This week William Gruff launched a fundraiser through KickStarter.com to help produce physical copies of our amazing album and to hire a publicist who will get our music into the hands of key industry people otherwise extraordinarily difficult to reach.  Every donation is a vote of confidence and an investment in our music.  We have a great list of rewards posted on the site to inspire you and to thank you for your contributions.  Please, go to the Kickstarter link at the top of the page, watch the video and read a little more about the band.  Tell your friends and family to visit too.   Every dollar counts!!!  We can’t thank you enough for your support.
Sincerely,
WG

Morning Mr. Magpie

VF3. Its not very often a band puts out something that I like on the first listen. Something usually makes my mind drift to, ” Oh, that sounds like so and so.” or ” I don’t relate to what the song is saying.” It could also include, “I don’t like how the drums were recorded and the guitars were treated unfairly.” and so on and so forth. Fortunately for me Radiohead is still making records. I didn’t get into the band until the beginning of this year thanks to some trusted music fanatics I know. Now i don’t remember when i wasn’t aware of them. Their new album is killer and here’s a tune from King of Limbs.

MC13: sOnG-mEtErS

Ok maybe the title isn’t that funny, Holy Guacamole I can’t believe I’ve never heard these guys before and I hope I’m behind the curve here because they deserve some recognition. Merrill Garbus’ voice is amazing, I love how quickly and easily she can go from screaming to soft and lovely.

I love the NPR tiny desk series and I really enjoy how each group tackles being behind Bob Boilen’s desk. I can’t wait for the day we get to do this.

MC12: Ornithology

It’s been awhile and I apologize. Life gets crazy. A lot. But here we are another day another music video that is meant to inspire.

The other day in communication with a music distributor/ indie label of sorts we were told that William Gruff sounds like Andrew Bird meets Tom Waits. The Tom Waits reference I understand, thoroughly, but it took some research to understand what part of us sounds like Andrew Bird having never dove too deep into the man’s aural spectrum. He has a staggering collection of fan made youtube videos. The good: there is a lot of content. The bad: you have to wade through a ton of mediocre videos to get to the good stuff. I was lucky enough to stumble onto this gem that should have way more views than it does.

This is him stripped of his loop pedals walking up a street in France with only his violin.    .simply.   .gorgeous.

MC11: Weezing Muppets

And without further ado the grand finale of our week of muppet music videos. My band back in high school was basically a weezer tribute act so this one has a very special place in my heart. Enjoy Weezer’s ‘Keep Fishin” starring real live muppets.

William Gruff will be playing at Piano’s in New York City tonight show starts at 8pm, $8 at the door.

MC10: Drunk and Stoned Muppets

Today I offer for your amusement not one, but 2 delightful music videos featuring degenerate puppets. I hope you can accept this as an apoplogy for missing yesterday. The first is the song ‘Alfie’ by Lily Allen, and the second is a finalist in a music video competition held by the electronic duo Royskopp for their song ‘The Alcoholic”.

Tomorrow will be the last edition of MMV and it’s a good one so stay tuned.

VF2 Change your mind, you might learn something

To learn is to change one’s mind about something. To learn is to change your mind. If there is no change of mind after recieiving infomation, then what took place is merely reinforcment. Avoid reinforcment. Reinforcment can even be dangerous because subtle changes in one’s own ideas can slowly evolve into a mutated form of the original idea. Slow mutation equals the total deletion of the original idea. If not careful, a person can end up not believing in his/her own idea.

Search out the pieces of information that cause you to say, “Oh man, I never thought of it that way.” , while avoiding conversation that has you unconciously knodding your head and agreeing.
