MC3: The Great Dictator

I can’t set this up well enough. This speech says so much in three and a half minutes. Charlie Chaplin started writing this film in 1938 and began shooting the next year just one week after the start of WWII. The words are timeless and I can’t imagine watching this when it was released in 1940.

This is a reedited version with a montage of powerful images and subtle underscoring. Very well done. Chaplin’s original performance is brilliant, and certainly worth a gander.
